Meet the Elders
Pray for the Flock
Scripture is clear that prayer is one of the primary responsibilities of an elder. One Life Church elders are men who commit to pray and fast for the church and our leadership on a regular basis. “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18
Protect the Flock
A biblical elder is responsible for the spiritual condition, direction and doctrine of the church. It is the responsibility of the elders to protect the church from false teachings and division. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4:3
Pastor the Flock
One of the primary roles of an elder is to ensure the members in their care are receiving spiritual nourishment and protection. As a shepherd, these men are to ensure that each member is in a relationship of accountability and encouragement.“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
