WHAT IS OLA?

One Life Academy (OLA). As followers of Jesus we are continuously wrestling with how our faith affects the day-to-day. Let’s remember, God cares about all 168 hours of our week. OLA is an environment where we will learn that the principles of God are relevant right where we are, today, in this moment, in this place. Wednesday evenings from February to April we will gather for a meal and a set of engaging classes. We will offer childcare for all ages except for nursery age.

Come learn how following Jesus can affect every part of your life

SPRING 2020 CLASSES

Jesus’ Parables & Anxiety

This class will examine how the life, stories, and teachings of Jesus can better help us understand anxiety and how it can both help and hinder us. We’ll also learn some practical tips and tools for managing anxiety when its place in our lives becomes too prominent or controlling.

Engaging the 4 Gospels

Have you ever read all 4 Gospels? They are the stories of how Jesus came to the world, engaged the world and ultimately changed the world forever. During this course we will explore the many facets of these 4 accounts and learn more about who Jesus was and how Jesus lived in the world.

The Art of Neighboring

When Jesus was asked to sum up every commandment into one, he said to love God with everything we have and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Most of us have turned this simple idea of loving our neighbors into a nice saying, putting it on bumperstickers and refrigerator magnets and then going on with our lives without actually putting it into practice. What would happen if every follower of Jesus took the Great Commandment literally? Is it possible that the solution to our society’s biggest issues has been right under our noses for the past two thousand years?

Women in the Bible

We’ll take a deep dive into the lives of women of the Bible – both familiar stories and new ones to discover. This session will be video driven content with interactive group discussion. We invite both men and women at OLC to join us as we lean in and learn a fresh perspective of God’s character through these women.

OLD TESTAMENT CAMPFIRE

Stories are what shape us as individuals and as a people. In this class, we will experience the Old Testament through campfire storytelling. We will learn to find our story within the messiness of Israel’s.  Grab a s’mores, pull up a log, and let’s dive in together.

Communicating with Clarity

I said this, you heard that.” How many of us have experienced this idea in relationships? The words you say and the words you hear have the power to shape your entire life. And the more sobering thing is that your words have the power to shape other people’s lives too. This course will give you tools to change every conflict and conversation you have—for good.
