OUR VISION

This is God’s unique dream for our church.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

One Life Church in Concord, North Carolina is a church who aims to follow God with all our heart and desires to build a community of disciples who build disciples through consistent, intentional relationships. One Life’s goal is to set the Charlotte area on fire for God by building these relationships and serving the community in every way we can.

What We Believe About God
God is the Creator of all things, the sustainer of all things and the one who holds all things together. He is one, yet expressed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and live in perfect union.
What We Believe About Jesus
Jesus is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus came to show us what God is like. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to judge the hearts of all people.
What We Believe About The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is always present and always working in the world, drawing us to the Father and reminding us of our need for Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit is working within people today, and serves as our great counselor and encourager. Through the Holy Spirit we have access to God’s strength and power. It is because of the Gift of the Holy Spirit that ordinary people much like us have the ability to do extraordinary things in today’s world.
What We Believe About The Bible
The Bible is God’s written word . We believe God’s Word is inspired, alive, active and relevant for us today. It is a light unto our path. It is eternal. To follow Jesus is to be a student of God’s Word. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
What We Believe About Humanity

We believe that each person was created to bear the image of God and to have an intimate relationship with Him, but because of sin we have been separated from Him and the image we bear is that of Adam, broken and fractured. It is only through a relationship with Christ that this separation is redeemed and reconciled. Mankind is the supreme object of God’s creation.

What We Believe About Eternity
Everyone will either exist eternally in union with God, through forgiveness and salvation or eternally separated from God by sin. To be eternally in union with Him is called Heaven. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
What We Believe About Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to mankind. Mankind can never make up for sin by self-improvement or good works. The Gospel is the Good News that salvation is found in and through the person of Jesus. How does someone respond to the Gospel? They believe/trust the Gospel, repent, and be baptized.
What We Believe About Baptism
Baptism is the wedding ceremony between an individual and the person of Jesus. Once a person has trusted Jesus as their Savior and King they are then united to him through baptism. Paul describes baptism in Romans 6 with powerful imagery where we are united in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Therefore, at One Life, we celebrate with Heaven when a person places their faith in Jesus and then they are immersed into the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
What We Believe About The Church

The Church is God’s ‘Plan A’ for introducing heaven to earth. The Church is the Body of Christ, living out the way of Jesus and proclaiming the Gospel to a broken, hurting and lost world. We believe that being connected to a local church is of upmost importance to an individuals relationship with God. The church is not something we do, it is something we are. We are the family of God, we are the church, we are the Body of Christ and we are the incarnation of Jesus in our world.

OUR LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE

NON-DENOMINATION

One Life is a non-denominational church. There is no governing board, entity or agency that controls or approves what we do or don’t do

BOARD OF OVERSEERS

One Life is overseen by a Board of Overseers. Our Board of Overseers are nominated by the members of One Life and serve a 4 year term.

LEADERSHIP ROUNDTABLE

At One Life we have a vision to create a Roundtable Leadership Structure rather than a leadership structure based upon hierarchy. Currently this table is made up of our Board of Overseers, staff and ministry team leaders. We strive to invite diverse voices to this table so that we can experience what Paul describes in Ephesians 4, “So that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

WHO CAN LEAD?

We believe both men and women can hold all roles of leadership within the church body. For us, a fundamental truth of the Bible is that spiritual gifts are not gender-specific. In other words, we believe that the Holy Spirit releases gifts of leadership to both men and women. Our goal, then, is to disciple and empower both men and women in the areas of their gifting within their current context leading to maximum impact for the Kingdom of God. Practically, this means we value and celebrate the God-given capacity of men and women to lead without limitation, even as we humbly evaluate the best empowerment of that leadership in each situation and circumstance
